I started writing things down because my head felt too full. Like everything was crammed in there wrong and might spill out if I didn’t do something about it.
Mr Eyeball said it helps, seeing your thoughts in black and white. Stops you telling yourself the same story over and over.
I’m not sure about that yet.
But I do know this—if I don’t write it down, it all just keeps going round and round.
And I’ve got a feeling there’s more to all of this. I just haven’t worked out what yet.

Name: BB
Sister to: Barb
Mam and Dad: Bauble and Ballcock
Status: At school
Tagline: Thinks too much. Feels even more.
Most common thought: “There has to be more than this.”
Temperament:
Sensitive. Restless. Easily pulled between hope and doubt. Feels things deeply and struggles to switch it off. Always aware of what’s going on, even when she wishes she wasn’t.
Additional notes:
• Notices everything, especially what people don’t say
• Overthinks conversations long after they’ve finished
• Everyone ends up with some sort of “ball name” in her head eventually
• BB stuck — more beach ball than anything else
• Goes with things like she’ll land somewhere better, even if she doesn’t get a say in it
• Always searching for something that will change her life
• Starts things with hope, then quietly questions them
• Wants things to mean something
• Can see through people (especially at home) but still gets pulled in.
• Doesn’t quite believe the “people like us…” mindset
Classic line: “There’s more to it than that.”
Special skill:
Turning a small moment into something much bigger in her head
Biggest fear:
That this is all there is
Secret (would deny it):
Still believes something will come along and change everything
